Top 5 Reasons People Love Our Trees
1Family Founded, Owned and Operated. Our Christmas tree experience began in 1984 while studying at Cook College and working part-time on a local professor’s farm. After graduation we continued to work there making handmade wreaths and selling precut Fraser fir. It was in 1991 that we planted our first trees in South Brunswick and soon expanded to a second farm in Somerset. Given these properties were only term leases, which expired, we needed to find a permanent home for our Christmas tree growing interests. We are genuinely first generation farmers. In 1998, we met a nursery grower who had preserved his farm through a deed restriction, and wanted to retire- through a creative arrangement we were able to purchase the farm in Robbinsville. We planted our first trees in the spring of 1999 and began selling our first Christmas trees in 2006.
2A Huge Variety of Trees to Choose FromWe strive for customer satisfaction, and to that end, we have over 10 different varieties of trees to choose from. Further, by planting annually and managing our inventory we have over 3,000 trees to choose from.
3We Grow Award Winning TreesIt starts with a 3 or 4 year old seedling that is planted in the spring. During the eight years it takes to mature to a 7-8’ Christmas tree, we contribute much to its growth. Throughout the year we keep the trees free of weeds, which makes a healthier and more dense tree. We constantly monitor our trees for insects and diseases that may reduce a trees vigor and quality. In the fourth year of growth we begin trimming to help the trees fill in and attain that perfect Christmas tree shape. There is great skill and experience needed to grow award winning trees. We have been fortunate enough to be able to have won the state Grand Champion Award twice in 10 years and numerous other awards for tree quality.
The New Jersey Christmas Tree Association holds a yearly Christmas Tree Contest at the Sussex County State Fair in August. McLaughlin Tree Farm’s beautiful Christmas trees have won the title of “Grand Champion” for two years, as well as many more awards.
We’ve also provided a tree for St. Patricks Cathedral in New York in 2012.
4Better Trees, Better Service, Better ValueWe pride ourselves on offering the best quality trees and we strive to provide the best in customer service and satisfaction. Always eager to assist customers and make your experience enjoyable and hassle free. We constantly evaluate our pricing structure and that of our competitors. We feel our trees are valued priced, not the lowest, and certainly not the highest. Our prices have remained consistent for three years and in row and will stay the same again this year.
5Giving Back to the CommunityWe understand the value of customer loyalty and appreciate the support of neighbors, friends and customers that continue to make an effort to come out every year. We also recognize and appreciate the value our servicemen and women and emergency service professionals provide to keep our community safe. That’s part of why, throughout the year, we contribute back what we can. Some of our donations have included: Christmas trees to local churches, Trees For Troops, and Mercer County Homefront. We have also provided plants and landscaping to local schools. We sponsor several supports teams in Robbinsville. We contribute to the Robbinsville Irish Heritage Association.
